Off-road driving

All tires are kept firmly in contact with the ground even when traveling over rocks and other demanding surfaces, so you enjoy a safe, stable ride with excellent traction for superior rough-terrain drivability and control.

On-road driving

Body roll is suppressed, so you get superior steering stability and a steady ride when cornering. In addition, vibration is effectively absorbed through fine electronic control even when traveling on slightly uneven surfaces, realizing a sufficiently comfortable ride.

Land Cruiser Prado Frame

The rigidity, strength, and durability of the Prado frame have been advanced by reinforcing the frame cross-section to secure superior torsional and flexural rigidity. (KDSS frame shown)

Variable Flow Control Power Steering

Optimal steering force is achieved by varying the hydraulic power steering pump flow rate according to vehicle speed and steering input speed. So steering is light and nimble at low speed for easy maneuverability and parking, and firm and responsive at high speed for enhanced control and stability. In addition, fuel efficiency is improved by reducing hydraulic power steering pump flow rate when no steering movement is required.

Electronically Modulated Rear Air Suspension plus Adaptive Variable Suspension System

Electronically modulated rear air suspension maintains a constant vehicle height irrespective of the number of occupants or amount of cargo. Height is adjustable by switch operation. Additionally, AVS regulates the damping force of the shock absorbers according to driver input and road conditions. A choice of Comfort, Normal, and Sports modes is offered.

Full-time 4WD System with TORSEN® Limited Slip Differential*1

An easy-to-use dial-type transfer switch*2 lets you shift smoothly between low-range and high-range drive. There are also differential lock switches that let you lock the center and rear differentials.
