AURION’s development concept is, to “Create the New Global Standard of the Mid-size Sedan”.
This new model “Aurion” is a new-generation mid-sized sedan equipped with a newly developed V6 engine. The name chosen to appropriately express the qualities of this new model is “Aurion”. The root word for this comes from the Latin word Aurien, which means “first light”. Aurion was selected as a name suitable for a new-generation mid-sized sedan developed based on the themes of “Advanced Technology”, “Stylish ”, “Refined”, and “Innovative”. It also has an intonation that is close to Aureo, which means gold in Latin, and Orion, which means constellation.
The Theme of the Aurion was to achieve the prestige demanded of a high-class mid-sized sedan.
In developing this new model, we strove to achieve a vehicle with value that exceeds customers’ expectations as a high-class mid-sized sedan, even at one glance.
We pursued a refined form as a high-class mid-sized sedan.
In order to achieve a refined form combined with a dynamic feel, we moved forward with the development theme of “Dynamic yet Majestic”.
We wanted an interior that provides satisfaction the moment you enter the vehicle.
For the interior, we pursued a dynamic design with delicate detail while providing ample space. The real challenge was pursuing the two contradictory themes: a stylish design with a form that achieves higher prestige, and a roomy, comfortable space. To solve this, we thoroughly pursued spaciousness that can actually be felt when riding in the vehicle rather than merely numeric spaciousness.
We pursued luxury that exceeds customers’ expectations.
Our focus was not only on ensuring ample rear seat space, but also on substantiating the use of advanced hi-tech equipment in order to achieve a comfortable ride while driving, and a sense of luxury. The Smart Entry System and illuminated entry system are some good examples.
We first considered the driving performance demanded of a high-class mid-sized sedan.
Our goal was to achieve both handling stability and riding comfort. This has been achieved by the 3.5-litre V6 engine with 268 horsepower and the 6-speed sequential automatic transmission.
We challenge to achieve both power and low fuel consumption, two perpetually contradictory themes.
To achieve stress-free driving in town and when merging onto a highway or passing other cars, we completely remodeled everything from the engine to the chassis.
We gave careful consideration to maintaining excellent passenger protection performance.
The Aurion was designed to ensure an even higher level of safety, so safety equipment was even further substantiated.
